Saint Vincent was a brash, young Christian martyr in Spain, III Century. Selected instruments of his torture appear in the glass. At bottom left, the flames and iron grid. Further up the little yellow triangles clad in flowers symbolize shards of pottery he was made to sleep on, transformed into flowers by the angel above right. Vincent is traditionally pictured holding a stone mill-wheel because he was thrown into the sea in a sack weighted down by one. The palm is a symbol of martyrs. Vincent is patron saint of vintners, hence the vines and press (the church is located in the Champagne region). The historical quotation : "You can burn and quarter my mortal body but there are tranquil depths within me that pain cannot reach".
